Elon Musk – a dreamer, an achiever, a visionary !!

 

“When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favour.”

This was once quoted by Elon Musk, the globally acclaimed entrepreneur, a businessman, and founder of Tesla Motors and SpaceX – a milestone company to launch commercial aircraft in the year 2012.

Elon Musk was born on 28^th June, 1971 in Pretoria, South Africa. As a kid, Musk used to be an introvert & a bookish child. Even during his childhood, he used to stay involved in his own thoughts and imaginations about creativity and inventions.Since his early days, Elon Musk had a huge interest in computers.At a very tender age of 12, he self-learned about computer programming and sold his first gaming software called Blaster.Elon Musk was two brothers and a sister. Elon’s father was a successful engineer, but he was only 10 when his parents divorced. So, his mother used to work hard to support him.

Elon’s started his college education from Queen’s University, Canada. After that, he moved to the University of Pennsylvania to study further in the stream of business and physics. Elon Musk wanted to pursue Ph.D. in energy physics, for which he took admission in Stanford University but left just after two days of joining.

This may be considered as the turning point in Elon’s life. Year 1995, the time of Internet boom, and Elon with no looking back launched his first company Zip2 Corporation – an online city guide, which later in the year 1999 was sold for $307 million in cash and $34 million in stock options. After selling his first company, Elon Musk was all set to found his new startup X.com, which is an online financial services/payments company. Later it led to the creation of PayPal – as we know today, which was acquired by e-bay in 2002 for $1.5 billion in stock. Thus, by now, Elon Musk was a billionaire.

Elon Musk once said, “If you get up in the morning and think the future is going to be better, it is a bright day. Otherwise, it’s not.” This vision leads him to found his third company in the year 2002 - SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corporation). SpaceX was created with the objective of constructing spacecraft for commercial space travel. SpaceX worked for NASA for transporting cargo to international space station.

Simultaneously, in the year 2003, Elon Musk co-founded another company – Tesla Motors which produced budget-friendly electric cars, including battery products and solar roofs. Elon was the product architect & CEO at Tesla Motors. Since its inception, Tesla has been reveling amazing products one after the other including the sports car – Roadster, Model S – company’s first electric sedan car and thus creating milestones. By now, Tesla has been acclaimed by U.S. most valuable car maker company.

Elon Musk created history when his company SpaceX launched its unmanned capsule - Falcon 9 rocket into space. This was the year 2012 and since then, there was no looking back.

Elon Musk is a phenomenal visionary with a determination as hard as rock. His entrepreneurship skills are indeed an inspiration to all those dreamers who wish to be a successful entrepreneur.
